  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Busy Bee Lathe 12 x70, $4000, Swift Current SK

I tried to find some comparable units for pricing; does $4000 seem reasonable to you guys, or a bit overpriced?

There was one in the states a few years ago that sold for $1600 and they were already talking about how old the unit was. There was also some talk about how these older Busy Bee / Grizzly models are better than the current line of Craftex units.

Thanks!

I have that exact lathe (as does @Dabbler) and can confirm that it's a solid machine. If I were to sell mine I'd ask in that range and I don't have the metal stand and my drip tray is more 'experienced' :)

I agree with David. mine is one owner, and is pristine cond. but 4000 is the ceiling for a well equipped B1237 lathe. the floor isn't much less unless you are David and poop golden horseshoes!
