  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. I never noticed the t-slot until you mentioned it. About 50 years ago I heard this, and it’s still true:

There is nothing that can’t be broken, and that includes steel ball bearings loose in a sandbox, using nothing but a rubber mallet.

The interesting thing about Boxford lathes is that they are pretty much a clone of a South Bend. Not sure if a compound from a 9" SB would swap right over. Might need the base plate as well, although the dials are definitely different!
 
I'm thinking still enough left on that T slot to hold a tool holder the way it is but my biggest concern would be, considering how many completely neophyte students used that thing, and how many other jam ups happened with similar shock incidents that broke that T Slot.
