This is why I never ventured into BT mouse because I'm kind of a picky demanding user for CAD. Any lag or issues would set my hair on fire. Although... I see lots of people happily using them.

Just to help muddy the water Peter, I've been happily using a BT mouse for what might be 25 years. I prefer them. I don't recall a problem.

I have had lag problems with USB Mice though. Hair on fire would be an understatement. Man I hate that when it happens. Usually it can be fixed or improved by moving the mouse connection to a different port. Certain software seems to make it worse.

If you can successfully use a USB mouse, consider getting a USB Dongle wireless mouse. They are very popular and work quite well. The Dongle is a tiny USB device with a radio in it. Microsoft and Logitech sell them.

Odd because my PC motherboard is not exactly a slouch & not that old. But its up to date & not throwing error messages so ????

Yeah bluetooth is one of those things that really depends on implementation on both ends. No bluetooth product is the same and it doesn't operate on a binary of "works or broken". The "bluetooth 4, 5, 6, 7, etc." doesn't make as much difference as the actual chipset and drivers.

A lot of esports or performance gaming devices are rarely wireless or are 2.4ghz usb dongle because it is more reliable than bluetooth. It won't be noticable or matter for most people, but spry 20-year olds with high reaction speed or hand eye coordination would notice latency and dropped packets.

My on-the-go laptop work is bluetooth everything (zero dongles). My home system is a mix of dongles and bluetooth. My main desktop mouse is one of those performance dongle version. I have some devices that have both 2.4 and bluetooth and I opt for the 2.4 always. I bought a motherbother with 12 usb ports and an external usb hub on top of that.

And then with wireless mice it gets into polling rates and all sorts of stuff that matters for certain users. This applies to bluetooth sound quality on headhsets for audiophiles.
