I used to brew a lot from all grain recipes, but I never had the need for a large keg, because it doesn't keep well and I'm not an alcoholic and dont have enough drinking friends hahaha.
If I'd have known I'd have given you all my 5 gallon kegs, regulators, manifolds and lines etc.

When I was building my Smithy, I knew I had an old beer keg stashed away in one of the old back sheds under a pile of stuff i wanted to use for a slack tub. When I dug it out, I discovered it was actually a cask/firken with a side bung instead of a normal keg, so that kind of dashed my plans a bit. I've been keeping an eye out for a normal keg ever since.
I might still build something out of it, but what? If I made a forge the side hole rotated up would be a good spot for a tube burner, but I already have a large propane ribbon burner forge and don't need another one.....Already have a pile of tanks for a foundry too......Probably either weld up the side hole, or use it for it's intended purpose someday.
Wishing now I would have kept one of the ones we returned for the deposit in my younger days.....I think it was around $40 if I remember right. Maybe I could have another Keg party, and charge for "cups" again

For those of us with a still, they are useful as a pot for heating the mash, or wine as it is called.
