Beaver Milling machine, $1000, London, ON

I messaged the guy yesterday about it, he doesn’t seem to know much, 120v table feed and possibly cat 40 spindle taper. They are apparently fairly decent machines.

Lucas also made fridges, therefore warm beer!
Hail Joe Lucas, the Prince of Dimness! :)

I rode Brit Bikes for many years, am still pretty certain the three positions of the Headlight switch, were Dim, Flicker, and Off!

Lucas made Vacuum Cleaners for a while. It was the product line they had that didn't suck!

And, if you want to know fear, consider this! The Italians learned what they know about motor vehicle wiring, copying Lucas stuff!

:P

Is that a cup holder in the middle of the table?
Looks a little large to drill out and put a set screw in, with "Oil Here" stamped into the table...

Lots of info on lathes.uk.co
Yeah, all jokes about English electrics aside (are they ever really aside? LOL!) that machine looks like a LOT of value at the price asked.

It seems a long way from perfect, but the price doesn't get you perfect, it gets you a project with some promise if you are willing to clean and fettle. At that price, a new motor in a voltage that you can handle, is also a reasonable option.

My personal bet, is that it will look FAR better with an hour or two of cleaning, and likely will meet the needs of folks that might have otherwise bought cheap Chinese dreck, on an accuracy basis, worn as it may be. A couple cans of WD-40 (use real oil afterwards!), or a squirt bottle full of any solvent (even hot water, in the case of a machine using water soluble coolant!) and a couple bales of fine steel wool, or some Scotchbrite pads, will make it LOOK a LOT better.

I'd be interested if it was in my area.

Which makes me wonder, why don't these sellers hire a kid for a couple hours to push back the grime a wee bit, it would make their product THAT much more marketable!
