Baldor Grinder

Scattered Parts

I have been looking for a decent 1hp grinder for a while. Check Kijiji on a whim for all of SK. What do I find? A Baldor 1220W on a pedestal stand. it even has the Baldor dust collection system that actually works. There were a couple broken bolts in the cover castings that had to be extracted. That was made much more difficult by finding that one of the broken bolts had an extractor broken off in it also. A little copper tubing and some welding and out it came. And a little cursing to coax it out. Changed out the two wire wheels that were only 8” diameter to a 12“ wire wheel and a medium grit. Works great on 220V. Now I can grind bits for my lathe and the new shaper.
