Auction in Enderby BC, Dec 11

I had some bids on some smaller items and by the time the auction started the online bids had pushed the items higher than I was going to pay with the added 30% taxes/fees. Comparatively, A lot newer knee mill went for the same price here in Salmon Arm a couple of years ago. All I can say....this is typical for an auction around here selling machining items...sky high!

Somebodies really wanted the traction engine, I think it was $2700. Must have been quite the bidding war.
Somebody else paid $27.50 for a pair of old wooden sawhorses that might be worth $5.

$2700 for the traction engine o_O

An engine that size is a tremendous amount of time and effort to make well. The materials are the least expensive part of the build, it's the time that costs.
There was a chuck that was labelled as belonging to the red lathe that was sold as a separate lot, that sucks for the guy who bought the lathe.

To put it in perspective, take a look at what castings and boiler materials cost ...
(not the same engine but provides a sense of what these things cost today before any work is done)

I picked up a few small items. The prices on those no name milling and lathe accessories seemed a bit high with the 30% added, some higher than new as unable to inspect on that online auction. Lots of fun.

I am planning to go up and pick up my items on Tuesday. If anyone needs something picked up, I can do that for you. I live in Peachland.
