Athabasca, AB farm machine shop auction - April 19th

This auction inlcudes a shaper, a milling machine, plus a 14" Lodge & Shipley Model X: https://www.rbauction.com/LODGE-SHIPLEY-14?invId=10238816&id=ci&auction=ATHABASCA-AB-2018512 . I have a very similar 16" L&S Model X that I built a moving rig for, consisting of two steerable solid axles. Progressively jack and block until the axles fit under, bolt it down to the axles, "drive" the "lathe-mobile" out of the shop, winch it onto a flatdeck trailer and you're off. Pic attached. If you're mad enough to buy the L&S, I could loan my mover.

There's also quite a bit of dimensional steel at this sale. I posted a link on the materials forum.

There are also two mills at the Ritchie Leduc auction on April 24th:

Looks like a machinist's hotrod it just needs a Ed Roth's style of gear shifter!

It's got a lot of levers already, one of them's bound to make it go fast!

Watched the auction but didn't bid. Lathe went for $5500, which seems like pretty strong money, and the mill for $1000, which seems like a bargain.

This auction house usually gets quite high prices. Used 7 x 10 band saw went for $1100 plus fees and taxes when new is frequently very close to that price at princess auto.

Lathe at $5500 plus fees - so over $6000 does seem a bit high ever for R&B but we don't know the shape its in.

Shaper for $1100 plus fees... must be enthusiasts fighting for it - seems high.

Mill for $1000. On one hand does feel cheap but its an old horizontal (with vertical head). It may be too big for many enthusiasts / hobby people and not efficient for a lot of small machine shops => hence low price. Expect this price range for 1.5 ton machines plus in poor shape. There been 5hp drilling machines sold for few hindered cad before.

As with shaper horizontal is cheap to run - cutters are plentiful and cheap and can be had for like $5.
