Archimedean Screw Manufacturing By Hand

There was a thread quite a while back where someone here was contemplating a mechanised chip remover for a milling machine but was stuck on how to make the screw. Sadly, I can't find it. However, I did find this fascinating video about how it used to be done by hand. We rudely look down on these techniques now in the western world, but this is how the world evolved. It may not be perfect or precise, but you have to admit it's effective.

I admire workers like this, making due with what they have.
