Assuming I understand your question, I don't think you can delete alerts. They never go away, they just scroll away as new ones populate above them. However, the new ones should be bold so you can easily see what you have not read yet.

Btw, don't use the browser back button because the bold will just come back. Instead, just hit the alerts button again.

On another machinist forum ( Hobby Machinist ) which seems to use the same software, once the alert has been marked read, it does go away. I guess the software used here is not the same. No big deal.
Thanks for the reply.

I'll guess that this "feature" is an admin setting. Ie, the difference between this and your other forum is just an admin preference, not a software difference.

I use dozens of other forums and I have been the creator, admin, and moderator on a half dozen forums or so.

Frankly, I like it the way it is here. I frequently like to read a post over again to see if I missed something or to re-examine the content and/or intent. Being able to find them via a notification is a real blessing.

The fact that unread notifications are bold is sufficient to keep my workload to a minimum and total info at a maximum. So I agree with the admin's choice.

What would be perfect would be a user choice setting instead of an admin choice.

But hey, I am grateful for everything the admins do and can't complain. I'm also grateful for the help of members here like you who give their time to help me with my machining questions.

Life is great!
