  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

A2Z CNC X-Y mill base

I bought this about 15 years ago from A2Z CNC in Colorado. The Y axis is 18" long and the X is 19". It's a beautifully made, quality piece of gear. It has Kerk Motion zero backlash lead screws and nuts on both axes. I used it to replace the X-Y axes of my CNC Sherline mill. No hand wheels. I don't recall how much I paid but I think it was probably around $700-800 US. The closest thing that I can find today is the 18" version from Sherline and that is $1,000 US. And Sherline does not have zero backlash lead screws. I think $500 Cdn is a reasonable price.

Whatever price we can agree on, I would have you direct your payment to the Hobby Metal Workers forum as a donation to keep this site running.
