3DP boxes

I'm slowly gathering up 3DP projects. I'm mulling custom boxes for various things. I can draw up the internal cavitty profile no problem, but I'm struggling with the lid. I can see that being fiddly to get the right fit & not making it overly complex. with hinges. Do you 3DP guys have a favorite style? Maybe the slide-in style from the side like blue pic? Doesn't have to be angled like pic but maybe there is a reason for that). I could probably make it out of the brown stuff for the same effort but wheres the fun of that.

I can honestly say I have never 3d printed a box with a lid. Only open boxes.

I've done a few boxes and use this approach to clip on the lid. Can't find any photos of the lid although I'm sure I have them somewhere. Here's the box that holds an interface board between my CNC Break Out Board and the AC Servo drives.

Here's the lid.

Notice the lid is aligned with the box by the flanges. The little bumps are the key. The outside of the box flexes just enough so the bumps are pushed down and latch into the holes. To remove the lid squeeze the sides of the box and then the lid can be lifted out.

The only photo I can find at the moment is this one. No lids in place.

Found another one. Same idea.

Here's the lid underneath with longer flanges.

I've done tons of boxes in the red style above. They are pretty sturdy at 2mm thick, with 1 mm per piece on the overlap section. I have also done several lately at 1.5 mm and .75 mm overlap. Also pretty strong. Although scale is hard to judge, I would think the walls on the red box are about 3x thicker than anything I have ever used.

I can shoot you the last stl file I used if you are interested. Box for a dial indicator.
