These are really cool. I already have a much newer one than these. The way they move is almost hypnotizing. The cast parts just add that extra bit of neat.

Yes, mesmerizing like a shaper. I like the adjustable downfeed weights on these. One of those tools that will never be made again. So every example left still is it. Kinda feel a strange obligation to keep them out of the scrap yard......

I recently felt that same way about saving one as well. I'm hoping to find a little space among the shapers........ This little single car carport is getting pretty tight. Good thing I am skinny...... ;)

Same way I feel about tractors. They maybe making new ones, but they will never make the old ones. Like these power hacksaws have been replaced by bandsaws. In the spring here I’m going to have to sell my 54 and 58 JD crawlers. Likely my kubota as well. When we downsized to Airdrie just no more room.

This is a power hacksaw I'm working on right now, it was made in Taiwan in 1983 but it's obviously a much older design.
It has some nice features with a hydraulic piston to lift the blade on the back stroke, automatic shut off once the cut is complete and a built in coolant pump that can be swung away.
None of those 3 features were working when I got it but they will when I'm done.

Yes, mesmerizing to watch.

I see a lot of open, clean floor space in that photo. Who are you kidding, there is space for ball room dancing or another shaper.

It's good to be both skinny and nimble. I lack both.

These power hacksaws do a square(6') instead of a small rectangle.

If one put an eccentric in the slot, you could get a lift on the return stroke.
