  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Supplies Sourcing a special Tap and Die in Canada

Morning guys. Before we start, I am still learning single point threading, and it just won’t fit into my workflow right now. I use a 13x0.8mm Triple start tap and die for most of my pen models. They are used for the cap to body thread, to get a secure fit with minimal turns to remove...

    Canadian pen supplies

Unfortunately, almost all of the base materials I use to make my pens, come from the US. Even without the current situation, my preference is to support as local as possible. The resin (specifically designed for pen makers) I use is from an American company and at the moment there are no...

Morning everyone. If anyone in the GTA is looking for a little outing to try something new, you need to drop by the Scriptus Pen Show. You will truly be amazed at what you’ll see. As I’ve mentioned before, I found this site while learning the metal lathe to make pens. This is my big show of...

    Bronze question

This is also a little follow up from the Thread 'Brass $5 pound' https://canadianhobbymetalworkers.com/threads/brass-5-pound.11284/ I was looking at the second rod I have, and found a readable marking. C63000 Which leads me to believe it is Nicle-Aliuminum Bronze rather than brass. I use...

    Hardinge Lathe project

My brother-in-law spotted this, he was attracted by the price. It says it’s a cnc project, but it also looks like a specialty lathe. Its not a project I’d take on, but for $700, I thought someone would be interested. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2175659612813730/

    Tool N2M engravers ball vice

I just got this for a great price in a local auction. $50. Slick and smooth operating. Needs a little wax on the wood base. Unfortunately, it did not come with the operating key. I figure I should be able to find something on Amazon, but I don’t know the proper name for a key if this type. It’s...
