  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     Alta tube can also be decent for heavy wall tube, CPO and induction hardened rods, and i think I’ve also seen some brass, bronze and maybe aluminum there.

    Oh that’s been thought about since we moved a year and a half ago. I’m planning a small addition this year if things go well, about another 10’x28’. After that has to wait and see. There’s room though to go about 30x 50 at the one end.

    I was supposed to be heading to Winnipeg this weekend, to pick up my new to me bandsaw/cut off saw. With 15-25 cms forecast for most of the trek, it’s getting postponed. It’s 1100 kms each way, I don’t need the hassle of a snowstorm to drive through.

    I’ve found 3-5 and 4-6 varipitch blades available. I think there’s three blades with it. I’ll have to do some hunting to find a fine tooth blade for thin stuff.

    Having spent years in Ontario, and now 7-8 years in the west, there is nothing in the prairies that compares traffic wise to the GTA. Heck even Ottawa is worse than the prairie cities.
