  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Shop Garage Hoist - How it's going to kill me?

    We have a variety of Princess Auto hoists at work, all with extended remote cables (the lowest ceilings are 16’, the highest is 26’). I wrote the capacity (single cable and doubled) on the remote, so anyone using it can check.

    I use a B&S Bestest (same factory, as far as I can tell) at work, and am very happy with it. My recollection is Robin Renzetti likes them as well, I think because they had a lower gauging force than some others in the same league.

    I’ve seen more of the dual cab for sale, but… I love the single. :) And yes, underpowered. The ones I’ve seen come up are either more rust than truck, or in the $35k+ range, and I can’t justify a second vehicle, or a primary that has occasional ‘quirks’, like not getting me to work. I love...

    I've never tried an Interapid, though the used prices suggest people think highly of them. I've got a Brown & Sharpe Bestest at work that looks after most of what I need. That long tip does look pretty handy. :)
