  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     Applying DC to an AC motor can be used as a brake. 80v seems a bit high though.

    Looking at the wiring diagram there is a reversing switch so there will be extra wires from the motor. Off the top of my head there should be 4 plus the ground.

    @PeterT stl files are an approximation of a solid body using lots and lots of triangles. They aren’t really editable if you want changes. If you are working with someone else’s model it’s far easier if you have the original CAD. I’ve seen SW models shared, that’s what prompted my post.

    I think the most common one is stl. There are a couple of other types obj and amf. I’ve only used stl, I don’t know if the other formats have any advantages or not.
