  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

What is the best thing to clean Carb’s with a ultrasonic cleaner

The new gas (ethanol) is really nasty if left for an extended time. I have a good size generator that appears to have been used probably once that was left at the curb a couple doors down because they left gas in it. Cleaned the carb and good as new.

    Thinking of contacting Klein Tools

I think what's happening is that the input impedance of your tester is quite high and when tripped, your tester is reading 30V. As soon as you add any additional load ( the Fluke), the tiny leakage current that's giving the 30V reading gets snuffed out. You could confirm that by connecting say a...

    Thinking of contacting Klein Tools

This is a valid point. Many device connected to that circuit will have a small amount of leakage current to ground from stray capacitance and in some cases (Y) safety capacitors. GFCI works on differential current measurement (what goes out the hot should return on the neutral). Any difference...

    Terrible QC - Toilet Edition

When shopping for a new tub, we could not find a single tub nearly as comfortable as the original. They just don't make them like that anymore. We looked, we shopped we failed. The new tubs have ridiculously tall sides and even the 36" wide versions are narrow compared to old cast iron one we...

    Terrible QC - Toilet Edition

FWIW, original 1973 toilet and bathroom, wax seal, no leaks, plywood just fine, that's almost 50 years. It was definitely time for a reno. Original cast iron soaker tub (oh so comfortable but period dated yellow), was so heavy two guys could barely move it an inch. They ended up smashing it to...

    Terrible QC - Toilet Edition

We just renovated two bathrooms. This toilet (single casting), so no possibility of leaks tank to bowl, is a good flusher. Gerber brand.

    Powerfeed for Zay7045FG Mill

Very Good point.... Servo motors when disabled freewheel with very little friction, while steppers while disabled will have a very noticeable magnetic pole type chunky feel type friction. When powered either will resist any movement.
