  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     Dual boot might be a good way for me to transition. My laptop has two SSD, so it sounds like I can install Linux on one of them. Not sure how you configure the PC to allow you to choose which OS when powered up?

    Scrub that arc over path really well. When done some silicone in that area so if it wants to jump there it has to take a longer path over the silicone. If you're lucky that's the failure.

    I have cnc capability so if the shim started with tabs to allow it to be held down I could just program in the change in Z, for example G1 X 6.7 Z -0.075 and use a face mill, would require several light passes with a face mill. If not in a hurry I could possibly do one pair but not interested in...

    Is it possible to take a complete Windows environment with all the installed programs and data into that virtual machine? That's what I want to do.

    Is that 169mm? How much do you want shaved off? Sounds like the taper is not a simple taper, but taper in more than one direction? What accuracy do you need?
