    Hangar door suggestions

Great input! Thanks @Degen why do you say the header looks light? That is kind of my biggest concern but wondering how you got there. It is a 40 foot wide truss structure that looks like it was made by a truss company. The inside is mostly open but the outside is weak 1/2" plywood. I planned on...

Van's RV-4 But it is a bit of a fixer upper. Being a homebuilt, I can work on it, and am planning on pulling the wings off for the winter and bringing it home here to my shop for some improvements. Thanks for asking. @YotaBota That looks interesting but those adjacent walls are 12 feet long...

    Hangar door suggestions

I am thinking that 1" solid is overkill, even if it is a good deal. Just too heavy given the door structure and header, but I was thinking 1" schedule 40. I have a few pillow block bearings but they would need a machined surface so black pipe might not be good. As I type, I thought of maybe turn...

    Everlast all in one

I am loving it. I have AC and DC tigged and stick welded with it. All seems good. The features are nice. I don't think my welds are better but it is nice to use nice equipment. So in a nutshell, no complaints so far.

Show us your Tool Height Standard

I know they sell electronic edge finders but @jcdammeyer video, with the alligator clip, makes me think that a simple LED circuit can be made up (haphazardly or in a nice little box...;) ) to be used when looking for an Z axis zero. Alligator to the bit, other one to the table or work piece and...

    Engine oil question

Thanks @Degen After posting, I found this which explains some of the designations well https://www.api.org/~/media/files/certification/engine-oil-diesel/publications/mom_guide_english_2013.pdf

    Engine oil question

With the variety of talents on this forum, I thought I might post this question. I have a 1999 Indmar inboard marine engine, essentially, a Chevy 350 in a ski boat. It is seldom used, so I have not done many oil changes. The manual states a marine oil, which is not common here (in the...
