  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Hello from SW Ontario

Mark - I was an air cadet at one point - I went the survival route but my peers went the flying route - it's an awesome opportunity to get power and glider licenses through but 20 years later I don't think any of those guys flew much (one exception but he tragically lost his life young so he's...

@Susquatch - roll cage tubing; every joint has different angles, some are really close to bends, some have compound angles (airplane speak, pitch, yaw and roll) and some have a second or more tubes that intersect together that need taken into consideration when fish mouthing/notching the tubes...

    Hello from SW Ontario

Awesome read - I'm not sure how I missed it when you posted. I used to rent a shop on the edge of Bright so I have some familiarity of the area; on of my groomsmen is still in Bright and he's only 20 or so minutes away (I'm in Cambridge near Klotz Automotive). Welcome to the forum @LeakyCanoe!

I came across an idea that should be added to the list of things to do - it's a tubing notcher setup using the lathe instead of the milling machine like I've been using. It appears that it's a vise setup on the cross slide(?) - the items in red are the accessories that are being sold by the...

They can identify themselves if they want to Craig - I'll give them the opportunity. @YYCHM, I don't think you'd need to make three guesses to have it figured out.

I was able to get a hand from a forum member yesterday to modify my OEM compound/tool slide - this is just a mock-up and I still need to make a threaded pin to secure the QCTP and some other small details. As seen in the photos, I now have enough clearance for my tooling and will be able to...

    Files - NOS

NOS Boxes Files in order listed above - there's two sets of Nicholson 10" Flat Second Cut File so they combine for 7 units (still two separate pictures). Handles to come - pics of test print in process... still needs some tuning - new PLA came in yesterday so added colour options...

    DRO Recommendations

Agreed, there are better ones for the money. The instructions look like they'll have at least parts that are applicable to any install; more specifically the directions to do with installing the scales. I started my search at "The DRO Pros" and then ended up finding what appears to be the same...
