Pumping cutting oil with a coolant pump?

Not easily, lathe is backed up against a wall, tank, pump, chip tray, electrical panel all open out the back. To get any of them out, I would have to pull the lathe (2500 lbs) out, put it back and then re-level it again. Its not the end of the world if I have to move it, I do have a toe jack...

Pumping cutting oil with a coolant pump?

Will a typical coolant pump pump ~20wt cutting oil ? I've used water soluble cutting lube before, no problem there. Now I have a project that uses rather expensive reamers and the mfr. recommends using petroleum based cutting oil rather than water based. Would just like to know if it will work...

CMT Ursus 250 Repair: 1) Clutch

I've done just that with checking spring rates on springs for coil-over shocks. Used a bathroom scale on my mill table, spring on top, compress the spring 1", read the scale. I checked some used, some new (all with rating tags on them). Was actually surprised at how close the readings were to...

CMT Ursus 250 Repair: 1) Clutch

Just a couple thoughts here; Those clutch packs look an awful lot like clutch packs in an automatic transmission (although probably smaller). I wonder if someone from a transmission shop might be able to help you or have some suggestions ? I Drag raced for several years, we used to take out the...

    Current Off Shore Order ETDs

Well, I tried Bangood for a 10 pack of inserts and Ali Express for a lathe DRO recently. Inserts were in my mail box in under 10 days and the DRO was at my door via Fedex within 10 days as well. No duty, no brokerage fees (yet ?). Haven't tried the inserts yet, still working on mounting the DRO...

    Milling Machine DRO

So, I was looking at one of these, a 2 axis for my lathe. Is there somewhere in the ordering process where they ask you what length of scales you want / need or do they just ship both scales "plenty long" and its up to you to cut them ?

    Opinions on C0636A lathe

When I bought mine (about 2005 or so) IIRC, it was ~ $4,800.00 - 2hp, 1.625" spindle bore, no DRO. I inquired with Modern ~Oct. 2020 and it was ~$8,000.00 with 2.0" spindle bore and DRO , no stock at the time, couple months wait. Not sure where they're at now, web site doesn't give a price.

    Opinions on C0636A lathe

I had one of their 0636 lathes from about 15 years ago - bought it brand new, used it quite a bit, did a lot with it. Not a bad lathe, not a great lathe, depends on your budget and your intended purpose. A "great lathe" could be 5 or 6X the cost of the 0636. On that particular lathe, (The one I...

    Contaminated welds TIG

Interesting, I don't think I've ever had that exact problem but I'll have to look at all my collets now. One gas flow problem I have experienced was with gas lens cups - the screen of gas lens cups getting partially blocked by splatter from "dunking" the electrode (yes, I do it sometimes too) -...
