  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. Shop Fire safety

A little off topic -- but maybe not so much. Thinking while in my shop just this afternoon -- ya know, I don't have a fire extinguisher in here - I do sometimes weld, heat things with a propane torch -- yeah, I should get one in here. What's that saying - better to have one and never need it...

Source for Horizontal mill cutters AKA: arbor mount cutters ?

Well; thanks for that , yes, those would work-- I did search KBC website for Horizontal mill cutters, arbor mount cutters -- "no results" -- never thought to use "convex cutters" in my search terms. I'm not really "stuck on" 1/4" - that just "sounds about right", a bit thicker wouldn't hurt (if...

Source for Horizontal mill cutters AKA: arbor mount cutters ?

Specifically looking for 1" center hole X 1/4" thick ~ 3" dia. C/W half round end profile. Yeah, I know "good luck". I have looked at involute gear cutters on Ebay that are somewhat close but anything currently available is a "stub" profile (flat bottom w/ radiused corners). TIA

"I'm really only trying to help @cuslog fix his feed speed issue." Thanks, but no point really -- I sold that lathe 3+ years ago and I owned it 15+ years and having done quite a bit of work on it, I'm pretty confident in the operation of it. That particular machine that I had, I could have power...

    King 1440 and Craftex Threading

Well, I don't think so, one of the gears had 2 sets of teeth, one side 100 teeth, the other 127, it was quite obvious which side had more teeth and IIRC, the 127 side was some kind of a metric conversion gear, the 100 side for TPI threads. I don't think I ever used the 127 side because I don't...

Actually, I didn't lose power feeds, they were just so far off (in speed) as to be essentially useless.

    King 1440 and Craftex Threading

Yes, mine was probably "the cheaper model". First lathe I'd ever owned, didn't know any better when I bought it. Was actually a decent machine but I always mumbled to myself when it came time to single point threads - could do it but it sure interrupted the work flow. Yes, probably a dozen or so...
