  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Bambu Labs to implement an authorization and authentication protection mechanism

Good thing I'm still on the fence. Got tired of playing with 3D printers years ago and sold all my stuff peak Covid. I just want to use a printer to print stuff now, kinda like how I moved from a homebrew CNC mill to a commercially made (albeit hobby grade) unit - it just works. That said...

    Fuse replacement -- CX-706

One of the 2 universities in town has a metal 3d printer in their mechanical work shop. I saw it while helping a buddy get a lathe from them. As of a few months ago, we were told it had barely printed anything except a demonstration vase and had been there at least a few years. Must have been...

    DavidR8's shop shenanigans

nice score, thats $300 at PA not on sale without any hold down clamps, buttons etc. I picked mine up a few years ago for ~$160 on sale and its good enough for what I do, plus if tried making it myself I'd still be drilling holes...

Machine B&S Challenger Surface Grinder - dust collector hookup

I did look at moving the box, but it just didn't fit right anywhere on the back. I added a small surface mount electrical box (like for a light switch) just on the back of the mill, about where the original was and ran the armored cable to that, and I will then run some cable from there to the...

    Looking for an appropriate motor

Find someone throwing away / giving away / cheaply selling a battery operated drill that doesn't have a battery. Planetary gearbox, lots of ompf, slow speed and adjustable if needed. Then you just need a 12v or whatever voltage power supply to drive it (or a battery!).

Looking for ideas to combine 2 probe inputs to one on Tormach

One thing about this configuration is that it is now dependent on the probe to be in the circuit. Not a big deal usually but something to remember as the probe has a USB C type connector on it and I can see myself not connecting it before going to probe a tool length. I have been training...

Looking for ideas to combine 2 probe inputs to one on Tormach

Thank you, proof of concept is wired up using a 2N3904 as that is what I could lay hands on in my pile of junk, and it works like a charm. Now I just need to make it clean looking and robust and I'll be done.

Looking for ideas to combine 2 probe inputs to one on Tormach

The active sensor is one of these inexpensive ones: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007768594340.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.29.56141802OTCbnD wiring diagram of it (three-wire system NPN-NO) and the input on the Tormach (31039 DIN) attached, along with the NC toolsetter. I...

Looking for ideas to combine 2 probe inputs to one on Tormach

So I've now confirmed I am not an electronics genius and I need some help. Situation- the Tormach has a single input for probes (toolsetters and touch probe), can be set active or passive in the PathPilot setting page. I have a tool setter that is "passive" (just a switch) and its configuration...

    Power Z & X

The X 2 appears to be 150 in-lbs (not foot-lbs) if you look at the metric specs (only 16.9 NM torque).
