  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. Mikes shop activities

In general I don't control backlash, as I primarily use(d) the table as an indexer and not a true 4th axis. I don't have access to software that can generate 4 axis simultaneous CAM. My uses are like you would use a collet block, or for gear cutting, all moves are in the same rotation...

    Mikes shop activities

Well, this project had me fall into the trap of perfection is the enemy of good, or better vs good enough, and starting with a bad assumption... My head was still in dividing head land (just picked up an Elliott dividing head) while trying to do the math for the rotary table. 40:1 ratio I was...

DMC2 Mini Mill - Another build and review

34v is fine, I think I've spotted a difference in the wiring of the encoders, the one in your hand is black-ground, red-vcc. the other 2 look like white-ground, red-vcc.

    Splined coupler

A variation on the theme is that the crank handle retracts the pin (the 2 disks stay close to one another all the time). Maybe a better solution in that the center shaft doesn't need to be as long, and doesn't get in the way while cranking.

Can't access threads when logged in, can see them when logged out

whenever I go to check on a thread I've commented on, I'm getting a server error. Weirdly enough, the same threads open if I'm logged out. Also getting an error that upload failed to the server...

    Splined coupler

My 2 minute sketch of what I was thinking of: The plate with holes is keyed to the shaft, the handle spins on the shaft, and pushes it pin into the holes, spring holds it in place. I'm sure I've used something like this before.
