  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. That’s a great deal. I have the same machine, minus the water cooler. Where are you located?

    Chain wear

Was the chain attached to a part that was bouncing during transport? I've seen vehicle tiedowns wear due to movement of the transported vehicle bouncing on its suspension. I can't imagine the bailer has any suspension beyond air in the tires, but that could be enough...

Tool Lathe Cutting Speed Circular Slide rule...

Saw this in a photo of a lathe being auctioned off. Apparently this is mounted on the side of the lathe. Near as I can tell, it's metal and the dimples are for your finger. Rotate the inner wheel to align diameter with cutting speed and the matching RPM is displayed. Recommended cutting...

How to clean inside a cylinder

I’d start with a shock absorber, even a used one from an auto wrecker. Honed cylinder, polished shaft, seals on the piston, even a litre or so of nice hydraulic fluid. You’ll need to configure the inlet/outlet ports and work out the valving, but it should be a dirt cheap starting point.

    Gotta Love the Dump

I think a lot of discarded tools come from estates. Dad passes away, the kids fly in and have 3 days to liquidate everything. Maybe a one day garage sale and anything left goes to landfill…

    DavidR8's shop shenanigans

Does anyone use a snap-in, pinned or other type of quick release attachment method for the scales? As I understand it, getting it into the exact same place when it’s installed or replaced Isn’t critical, but it needs to be locked in and not move once it is in place. A quick release latch might...

    WTS Clemco Blast Cabinet

Looks like a nice unit. Wish it was a little closer! Gotta ask … Any chance you’d be traveling to the Shuswap in the future?

If you Google it. The USA is charging the Tariffs on any goods arriving in the USA, regardless of the final destination.

    US Tariffs

Just a heads up. I just bought some motorbike stuff from a company in Germany. Shipping with UPS. I expected an invoice for duty, taxes & of course, the brokerage fee. I didn’t look at the invoice (from UPS) closely enough. Canadian Duty was there, taxes were there along with the brokerage...

    Splined coupler

Yes, I thought that might be a problem, with the shaft being horizontal. I used this for wrench/lever for the top nut on my QCTP. The socket sits down on it so no droop. Lots of splined shafts in cars. I think this was mentioned (#6,@Dan Dubeau ), but, the axles on a lot of smaller FWD cars...
