  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Hello !

A warm welcome from Ancaster. I’m in the process of moving into a new house with what will be my “forever” shop..... So setting up shop “for the second time”. You’ll find this bunch to be very friendly and all around a terrific source of guidance and information. Don’t be afraid to ask anything...

A small job for larger lathe - must be able to chuck up a 5" backing plate

Why not put it in the mill and machine the 1/8 off? If you don’t have a mill then here’s a great way to start the conversation...... Ask the misses “do you want me to be safe?” To which she’ll answer, of course..... to which you reply that you need a mill.... zip, zap, zooey, you have a mill and...

    Rotary table for milling machine

In Ontario that table, in that condition would have sold for $400 to $500. It is WAY oversized for your mill. Why don’t you sell it and use the profit to get a table you’ll be able to use? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm going to sell my milling machine.

Unfortunately you are going to be selling to a market that has a number of unforeseen stresses. For 18 months everyone has been “staying home” but by August (if all goes to plan) people will be emerging from this pandemic and looking to travel, move etc. That may impact how eager people are to...

Is it just me or is milling something flat actually one of the most difficult things in the machining world to do?

So I have returned from my crusade gentlemen and I have much to share..... I’m guessing that mist if you will know already what I am about to share but think of it as you would watching a child learning to count to 100 or perhaps the ABC’s..... just smile and nod. Rule #1. When you face...

I did Craig, but very likely not well enough because I caught myself on some of the burr after all was said and done. 2nd time around will be different. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is it just me or is milling something flat actually one of the most difficult things in the machining world to do?

Good morning guys. The lock on the knee is tight. Because I am milling with the X it can’t be locked. The y seems irrelevant but will try it to see. This Tormach vice wont allow the jaws to lift by its design but will measure it. I will give some steel a look later today and perhaps not clamp it...

Is it just me or is milling something flat actually one of the most difficult things in the machining world to do?

Hey everyone..... So I pose this question in hopes that I am missing something, but I am pretty sure I’m not, and what’s worse, I may just “suck at this”. So last night I mounted my “new to me” but never used Tormach vice to my mill table. I put my Indicol ontobthe mill quill with its .0005...
