    Service for Oxy/Ac gas saver.

I scored an Oxy/Acetylene gas saver. It's appears to be complete and in decent condition. It is quite old and pretty dirty. Can anyone recommend an individual or shop in the Calgary area to clean and service it before I hook it up?

    TX650 hydraulic clutch conversion.

Very nice job. Back in the day I adapted a Ducati clutch slave to my XS650. A big improvement over the plastic screw thing. Yamaha clutches of that vintage were pretty shitty. If I recall I made changes to the basket and pressure plate as well.

    I need a magnifier

I bought my Dbit grinder some time ago and each time I use it I strip down part of it to clean out the old grease, deburr the sharp edges and remove paint from the machined surfaces. Otherwise its not too bad. My latest use for it was to make some dovetails to hold a DTI. I ground a dovetail...

    Determining Steel type….

Years ago I attended a Saturday morning coffee meet. One of the attendees was a retired steel salesman and he brought his ANSI catalogue of steels. The catalogue is about 2 inches thick and includes many many types of steels. If your willing to order in steel mill batch sizes you can get anyone...

    Determining Steel type….

There is no good way short of lab analysis. A magnet will tell you if it's one of many kind of stainless. Some folks claim they can get an idea by grinding it and observing the sparks ( check spark test on YouTube). If in your stock of metals you have some 1018 and 4140 do some comparison sample...
