  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

PA parts containers with removable bins rack - ALMOST Sortimo

Good job, looks really nice, and I like how each bin kind of locks into where it sits. I've seen similar systems, but this is one of the better non-Sortimo executions of it I've seen!

Brass VS Lead for soft hammer

@Jwest7788 that hammer looks gorgeous! Do the faces have a female-thread in them? How is the handle attached to the head? Great job! @Janger machining steel with a bit of lead in it can indeed be bad for you, but like most things it's only really dangerous if it's repeated exposure over long...

    Tech-night

I'd certainly be up for this here in Edmonton, @Brian G Not sure if I'd be much use on the teaching side, but I'm an excellent learner! :P

    Richard . . .

Damn, that faire sounds awesome, good looking booth too! @Alexander I saw in another thread that the Modern CNC lathe is yours, nice buy! At NAIT they have Modern manual lathes to play on, and they're actually really good little machines, I'll probably wind up putting one in my garage at some...

What kind of TIG welder do you have? I'm sure you've already heard these a million times before, but good clean material (talking shiny new metal, no mill-scale or oils) and a nicely ground and polished (no strafe-marks) tungsten will make a world of difference in your welds. A well prepared...

    Hi all

@Kris Jensen thanks, after seeing your CNC Plasma table build I'll take that as high praise! I'd love to have a table one day, but there's no way I'd be able to tackle all the electrical work involved with my current skills and knowledge. I can hold my own at mechanical or manufacturing work...

Edmonton Meet ups & local info

Hey, I'm in Avonmore here in Edmonton. I wrote about myself in the intro area, but I'm a machinist and enjoy TIG welding and motorcycles. I'd be up for some Edmonton meets at some point. Any photos of the stuff you've done so far? Let's see your shop! -Eric Sent from my B15 using Tapatalk

    My Kijiji Haul Yesterday.

The fancy drill looks like a spot-drill, it's typically used in a CNC machine. They're a bit more rigid, definitely nice

    Video Training

I'm a big big Tom fan. I just wish he had more videos, because they are great. Tubalcain is really good too, just hard to stay awake with his super monotone voice. :P
