Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans.     I have one......Bridgeport. Uses R8 collets. Willing to part with it if adequately encouraged. In Sherwood Park, by Edmonton. It is quite heavy, shipping may be costly.

    Is your new mill a Bridgeport copy? If so, it should have a spindle lock lever. I just hold the lever snug while I tighten or loosen the collet on my First mill.

    Eagerly awaiting the epoxy trial, especially since dynamic balance is preferable to static balance and the balance rings are axially displaced from the balance problem. I have not used plastic steel when balancing and am a little concerned that it may have less tendency to flow into the porosity...

    just put some epoxy both sides of the wheel and about 1/2" from the circumference. The added distance from the axis will require much less absolute weight and it will take a lot of redressing due to use before you get anywhere near the epoxy.

    I don't do a lot of wheels, but I have had good luck by putting a patch of 5 min epoxy on the light side of the wheel. If that is still too light, it can extend it into an arc.     Help me make my lathe better

    This is definitely a L0 (ell zero) or at most a L1 long taper spindle. That is what I have on my lathe. It is a good system in my opinion. The threaded portion on the chuck may be integral with the chuck or a separate backplate. Of course, the taper needs to be absolutely clean on both parts...
