  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Modified steady rest - lumby BC

Super! I’ll catch up with you on PMs tomorrow WRT details about getting it here. I would imagine any mods would be less involved than making one from scratch which was what I was contemplating. Thanks for offering it up to the group, can’t say enough about the good people here! D

Modified steady rest - lumby BC

If @quitereal doesn’t grab it I’d like to give it a new home. I think it’d look right at home on my Standard Modern. No need for the extra steel either. ;) Crazy, that looks like a PA price tag on it! D

    Tips/Techniques Hello new guy here

A hearty welcome from downeast, a Bluenoser in this case. Sounds like you’ll fit right. Lots of varied life experience & skills around here. You aren’t the only Engineer either, there are a number here that like to get their hands dirty. All good fun! D

Label maker - do you have a recommendation?

Greatest thing since sliced bread! You know, I worked for a very well known international company who built custom electrical/electronic assemblies as part of the final product and I even managed to get them to buy a shrink label printer (kicking and screaming) and what I got out of the...

    Via Ocean

Been a long time since you’ve been out this way! We’ve been doing plenty of catching up. It’s not as bad as more populated points west but not like the old days, still plenty of good people but more of the entitled mixed in with them. D

    Small Facemill

I could be wrong but I would expect the tool holders to be fairly hard. With that and not wanting to sink a bunch of time in experimenting with mods it wouldn’t be worth the trouble for me if I could just order an off the shelf from Shars. Actually the only reason I hadn’t ordered from Shars...

    Small Facemill

@PeterT We are talking about the fit of two inserts sold under the SAME part number IAW the ISO part number code chart you posted above. That’s what caught me on the Accusize tool I bought and subsequently returned. Thing is, the geometry, while apparently (claimed) meeting the parameters of...

    Small Facemill

I’m not 100% sure but it looks to me that there’s no step on the cutting surface of your Accusize insert. See the photo in @Susquatch ‘s post 15, it shows the step. I think sus’s insert is a larger size but the shape is the same. I have some of those on my larger face mill. I wonder if the...

    Tool Nothing Lasts Forever

That looks a lot like my ‘90s vintage Mit, back in the day the buttons were like that. D
