    Grinder Station, Part III

In Parts I and II we looked at the two tool rests or heads specifically, but in order for this all to come together in a seamless operation I had to make a few adjustments to the grinder unit itself. It started out as one of those dual-purpose things from KMS Tools — 8” grey wheel on one end...

    Grinder Station, Part Ii

The second half of this grinder setup, and second half of the actual grinder for that matter, is the result of what happens when one acquires more machines. More cutters to sharpen, more wheels to accommodate, you name it — more of everything. My milling cutter needs are not huge but I do like...

    Grinder Station, Part I

In reply to another post I included a glimpse of my grinding setup that I built for sharpening milling cutters and there seemed to be a bit of interest to see more about it. Current Off Shore Order ETDs

Interesting. Is that because you would have been manufacturing items for sale in your home or just plain working out of your home to support your business? A ton of people work out of their home doing various things (author, artist, whatever) — what didn’t they like (other than skunks)? -frank

    RF30 Basement Install

I tend to use mine a lot for doing things like this — putting flutes or grooves into adjustment handles or lock rings. This one is 6061 aluminum and just plunged with an end mill around the periphery (slightly less than half the diameter of the end mill seems to work nicely both aesthetically as...

    Firearm parts

It’s a slippery topic for sure but also one that is pretty easy to stumble into. There’s lots of folks with legal firearms for either hunting or target that might want a small part made or modified. Is it ok to make the part so long as you don’t have the actual firing components in your...

    What is Maker Space?

It’s kind of like a tool club — you buy a membership (usually) and in return you have access to use the communal tools and machines. Different membership levels get you different privileges as does your experience level. Geared primarily for persons who want to make things but cannot or do not...
