  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Tips/Techniques fume extractor MIG gun

not sure what this means: from my little research into fume extractor MIG guns - they don't suck out shielding gas, are not heavy or cumbersome, and work very well, but they are expensive

When the machining doesn't go according to plan...

I solved many problems while in bed - particularly at about 3 or 4 AM. I kept a notepad handy (bedside table). I'd have difficulty getting back to sleep unless I jotted down the solution - then I'd relax and go to sleep.

    Something off with Vevor

I bought a 6x12" magnetic chuck directly from Vevor. It had a damaged corner and a couple of scratches. I complained and they quickly offered me a credit = to 5% of the purchase price. The functionality of the chuck was fine, the damage was cosmetic but that was not what I paid for. Lots of...

When the machining doesn't go according to plan...

I took a course called Technical Drawings. It was really 'drafting 101' but technical drawings sounded better. I do detailed drawings for most of my projects. They help me visualize my end goal and also it's where I make most of my modifications. If tested, I'm sure most of my welds would fail...
