  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. The wife found some old pictures . Full street trim back in the day... no drive shaft safety loops, roll cages, nothing. Brake test, burn out box and go... In 15 min... we would pull the drivers seat out, throw the racing bucket in, add helmet with an on board fire extinguisher and we were good...

Yep, Initially it was Depo-cam then switched to Machining strategist. All geared to high speed milling, hard milling and very user friendly back then. They were the first to come out with linking passes for high speed milling, that eliminated the point to point line stepovers into an arc. Since...

Minimum grip on stock while in vise?

Sure, Material is C1018 that doesn't need to see the surface grinder. If I try to machine the 3d profile over the top in a smile type shape, going down to about .02 off vice jaws through the middle 2 blocks, the blocks will have a tendency to move. These blocks will be installed in assembly...

Minimum grip on stock while in vise?

I have some 3d to run over these 4 blocks. I've got about 1/4" in the vice. This material is just 1018 for soft tooling try outs. I use emery paper alot when doing this type of machining with multiple blocks. Toe clamping on a fixture plate just wouldn't work in this case. Hope it helps some...

Put'r'ther.. Now is the time to enjoy life, laughs and friends. I don't get out near as much as I can, but I'm fast tracking the boys in hopes to see those days sooner than later.. We are all very different, yet very much the same between age groups... Machinists/Tool makers/mould makers and...

Hey Dan, For sure, Mits marketing strategy benefited all of us back then. We were all learning, the $$ was flowing, cutter testing was moving in huge strides. I've been hearing good things from the shops I know running Seco these days. I'm not a fan of them myself and never would have guessed...

The F85's. 442's were too expensive at the time.. Much like your Mustang haha.. Had a family of kids to feed at the time so.., I went outside the norm in Olds... Pulled up with a 76 Olds Cutlass Supreme. Pulled the wheezy 350 out, built a 461CI Fabricated 9" rear with 433 gear/ 14x32-15 tire...
