    Heading East! Ya Mule Ya!

Damn it Brent, every time you come east a Nor' Easter follows you like some demented puppy! Would you please settle down and at least try to keep your pet storms on a leash? I've never had an insulated basement, but then again I've always had a wet basement come spring. Current house the...

    Bathroom demo/reno materials salvage?

Good day all. For background, a couple weeks ago a rain storm in the kitchen kicked off a bathroom renovation much sooner than anticipated. Now here's the problem. My Scotish ancestry (I'm not cheap, I'm frugal!) combined with growing up and living in a poor rural area of New Brunswick means...

    Shop Shop Alarm Systems

Late to the party as usual, but with a topic I'm familiar with. Up until last year (2015 was last year, right?) I worked for Xplornet. Not in sales, or phone support. In the back end, operations/engineering side so this is the straight poop. Warning: wall of text. The phrase you're looking...

    Heading East! Ya Mule Ya!

Best way I've found of dealing with snow is to have someone else do it. That said, being of Scottish ancestry means that I am genetically predisposed to, er, frugality. I like the idea of an 8 foot blower behind a 100 HP tractor, and some of the farmers around here have some REAL big and...

    Heading East! Ya Mule Ya!

Rule number 1 of snowblowers: The wind is ALWAYS wrong Rule number 2 of snowblowers: There is ALWAYS something hidden under the snow that will break shear pins or bind it up solid Rule number 1 of snow plows: You never have the banks pushed back far enough Rule number 2 of snow plows...

    Heading East! Ya Mule Ya!

Hey @Brent H stumbled across this thread here. Guess we're gonna be "neighbors" for values of neighbor being about an hour drive up river from you. If you want help unloading or unpacking or shoot the sh*t with someone relatively local, let me know. Full disclosure: hoping to finally meet...

How would you repair this gear?

Well, I *believe* and I am more than willing to be proven wrong, that the lathe predates the use of Zamak. Also they're magnetic and obviously the blank was cast as it still has the pattern or part number H97 in the back. That's what makes me think they are iron. There are absolutely no...

How would you repair this gear?

Morning all. So for kicks and giggles I popped by the local machine shop yesterday. When I told him what the gears were, he winced. Yeah, that was some serious crashing. Anyway, I expected either "Nah we don't want to do that" to "Sure it will be $$$$$$$ to do that." What I got was "I know...

How would you repair this gear?

So, I've been doing a little reading. Looks like an ELS might be a good idea. In a way I kind of like the idea of marrying 21st century DIY to a 19th century machine. I just suck with electronics though. I picked up one of those Arduino kits (make EVERYTHING) and beyond the basics promptly...

How would you repair this gear?

With a round pin to key it, yes.
