Tips/Techniques Feedback on Brazing techniques and results

I think you are probably right. Also, after looking at Paul Brodie's technique again, he is pointing his flame at a bit more of an angle relative to the tube, with the flame sort of glancing across the tube, whereas I was pointing the flame more perpendicular to the tube. I didn't think to...

Tips/Techniques Feedback on Brazing techniques and results

Paul discusses his brazing setup in the first 2-3 minutes of this video: I actually have a GasFluxer (same thing, different brand from what Paul is using) that I bought from a fellow in Calgary ~2 years ago who is also building some bike frames. I haven't hooked it up yet, but maybe I should...

Tips/Techniques Feedback on Brazing techniques and results

I gave brazing a second go with a much smaller torch and tip. I got my partner to take a video of the process so I hope you guys can give me some feedback. Materials: Tubing: 0.6mm thick chromoly (~0.025") Braze-on bottle boss: ~1mm thick chromoly (0.040") Filler Metal: Fillet Pro -...

Shop Adding 240V circuit to detached garage that already has 120V circuit?

I have an e-bike and my next project will be a custom e-bike. I am a huge fan and for me in Calgary it is about the same time for commuting so in the summer it is a blast. I'm comfortable having two e-bikes inside my home as they both use name-brand batteries. I would feel less comfortable with...

Shop Adding 240V circuit to detached garage that already has 120V circuit?

For fire safety reasons? I would have guessed that the vast majority of all electric cars are charged inside a garage.

Shop Adding 240V circuit to detached garage that already has 120V circuit?

That's a great point, I think that's how I'll ask the question. I think most landlords would not be very ecstatic about a hobby machine shop getting setup on their property LOL.

Shop Adding 240V circuit to detached garage that already has 120V circuit?

To clarify, there is no house yet, I'm just asking about what I should be looking for in prospective rentals.

Shop Adding 240V circuit to detached garage that already has 120V circuit?

I found this document. So it looks like if the underground conduit is 3/4", its for 120V only, if its larger, 240V could be run without needing to dig anything up. https://www.calgary.ca/content/dam/www/pda/pd/documents/brochures/homeowner-electrical-wiring-guide.pdf

Shop Adding 240V circuit to detached garage that already has 120V circuit?

Maybe this is more appropriate for the off-topic forum, but it's shop related. I am currently renting a property without a garage/workspace, and am using my parents garage (15 min drive away) for my workspace needs. I am considering new rental opportunities which include a garage so I could work...

    Xyphota's bicycle related projects

Yup, thats right! The zero point on the scale is at the center of the rotation on the rotary table, so as long as the hole saw cutting axis coincides with the rotary table axis, the only dimensions needed to miter the tube is the center to center distance of the miters on opposite ends of the...
