  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. Funny dot on Windows 10 user icon

OneDrive is so highly integrated into Windows and Office now that I don't think you can actually completely remove it anymore. Even disabling it is iffy.

    Worth picking up a mill/drill?

Seems like old machines are like old machinists. Stubborn, worn, stuck, and survived a few operations. Glad you found a way to get it apart. I'm with @David, don't bother straightening it. Not only are the threads damaged, but you can't really "bend it back" without still further weakening it...

New to me Ammco 7" Metal shaper

Colour me stupid too...... That's pretty much SOP around here. I'm almost always alone. I do what I gotta do. At my age time is meaningless. I routinely get down on my hands and knees and do the crow-bar dance from one place to another as warranted. Yes, I have an engine hoist and a 4 ton...

    Tool post identification

I still have my first lathe which is even older than that. For most of the 30 years I used it, I didn't even know that there were better tool posts out there. In hind sight, I wouldn't have bothered trying to use the standard rocker style. I'd have headed straight off to adapt a modern aloris or...

New to me Ammco 7" Metal shaper

Pervert. Ya, I discovered afterward that I could lift it manually too. But why take chances when it's a glorious chance to use my loader tractor!

Noob needs help with custom HSS tool.

I believe you mean Diamond or CBN. To be clear, I don't sharpen Carbide ...... yet that is. But I sharpen HSS all the time. In my opinion, it's a skill every machinist should have.

    Product Cordless tools

You know, I talked about tools I liked. I also should have talked about tools I don't like. Much as I like the Dewalt 20V system, I DO NOT LIKE their grease gun. The first one I got started squirting grease out of the relief vent. I returned it for a replacement. The second one started doing the...

Tips/Techniques Making the Square Drive hole in a custom socket.

Those welders are a selfish bunch. They don't want to teach anybody anything until we already know. Then they just want to argue. They use all kinds of jargon to confuse us too. I think brail means to close your eyes and poke the weld rod/wire at some metal till it sticks, then turn the...
