    Shop and Tool improvements

Here's a change I have wanted to make on my lathe tool post for some time. A new tool post mounting bolt and T - Nut. On the original the larger diameter area at the base of the bolt didn't extend very far up into the base of the post. The T-nut was also pretty flimsy. I also added a 12mm post...

    Threading on a Lathe

I'm from the old fart squad that was taught and do the 29.5 slant depth method. Were the cross slide is used to control tool position and the compound to control depth of cut. I think it's a carry over from the days of lantern tool posts and fish tail gages. If you follow guys like Robin...

    I need a tap.

Maybe. Probably, I have a piece of brass that I would like to use. I use the saw for cutting up stock and it's harsh usage.

    I need a tap.

It's the head office service center I've been emailing with. As yet no answer. I'll probably call on Monday. The current model being sold by BB uses a similar setup and there is a replacement part. I just don't know if it fits my saw. I would like to make a new nut and abandon the slip function...

    I need a tap.

Guess I should have been a bit more specific. It's a 3/4-6. It's a horizontal saw and the screw is for clamping the vise. The original nut is cast iron and is only threaded 1/2 the diameter and is held in place by a ball and spring. When closing the vice it engages the screw to the threads in...

    I need a tap.

The nut for the vise on my Busy Bee band saw is stripped. I'm emailing with BB to try and get a replacement. So far not that successfully. It's a lousy design so I'm thinking of making one. To do that I need a tap. I know it's a remote chance BUT! Does anyone in Southern Alberta have a #6 Left...
