  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Who Sold or Imported Zay machines?

A few years back one of the long time machine and welding shops (Frank's) shut down for owner to retire. I wanted some momento but was out of country for the sale, so had my wife buy a milling machine and band saw. The mill is a little vertical dovetail Zay 7045FG. Chinese made I assume but...

Tool Need some sheet metal tool parts

Bought a second (much nicer than first) Marvel 8 at auction 2 months ago, and suspected estate sale and more tools to follow. Forgot about the 28 day thing in Feb so missed sale by a few hours. When I checked catalogue, there was a matching set of 48" Brown Boggs foot shear, box and pan brake...

Yankee Doodle Dandy poundage. The rules around trailers have a break point similar to the one for trucks. 26k is where you go from virtually no regulation and no enforcement to the structure of things such as actual brake performance requirements. For tagalong trailers, that's a minimum of...

    Daily struggles with Ableism

gee, I guess some medical conditions are needed to be a metal fab/machine person (note that I used the politically correct term!!!) We are in our early '70s and have a bit of hearing loss and a fair bit of tinitus. Wife has RA (a sewing fanatic counting the years left before she can't do...

Hello from rural SK (near Saskatoon)

Wife and I are army brats and never really had a "home". When we decided to have a family I looked literally around the world for the ideal community that we would stay with until kids were finished post secondary education. 40 years later, we aren't going anywhere (except 4 mile SW to our...
