    Propane ribbon burner forge build

Does a ribbon burner not use any orifices to force the gas, or is it inside that box? In other words, how would the propane be evenly spread out every hole?

    Blade smithing

I finished my meat carving knife forged out off the new CPM magnacut. In comparison to some high performance steel like cpm 4v with high vanadium, the powder metallurgy and slightly lower level of chromium gives it higher corrosion resistance along with the balance of high hardness and...

    Propane ribbon burner forge build

I've been thinking of making the same sort of cart for my shop. My propane forge is too small to fit the larger items like the skillet I forged, so I'm planning on building a coal forge for that purpose. The thing is I would need to find a way to fit both the coal forge and the propane forge in...

    Propane ribbon burner forge build

I like the idea of the ribbon burner! That would spread the heat much more evenly. My current propane forge that I purchased from Hall Knife and Forge is a rectangular forge with three large burners pointing straight down. That definitely creates some hot points, but that forge is only used for...

    Sourcing Metal | General Discussion

Titanium is actually very soft compared to high carbon steel, or stainless steel; the highest Rockwell hardness you would find with a titanium knife is 55.Titanium has a high weight to strength ratio, and high corrosion resistance, so it is primarily used to reduce weight, and for water...

    Sourcing Metal | General Discussion

Because of titanium’s high strength to weight ratio, and high toughness, makes it suitable for high performance aircraft and spacecraft frames and components. It also has very high corrosion resistance, especially to chlorine which makes it useful for sea water/ marine frames.

    Sourcing Metal | General Discussion

Has anyone been to metal works Canada, here in Calgary to purchase their metal? I haven’t heard that they have a minimum purchase, and they do sell their off cut pieces for less; however I don’t know if they are any cheaper than metal supermarket.

    Sourcing Metal | General Discussion

Titanium in itself is usually used for tools, and hardware. Titanium when it comes to knife making is mostly used as an alloy in addition to carbon steel for higher hardness and corrosion resistance.

    Welding stuff organiser

I made the same sort of cart for my welder, plasma cutter, and gas cylinders, and now I need a cart to store my metal on. My dad came up with a good Idea that made a lot more sence. It would work a lot better for me to store my plate and sheet metal on a mobile cart, and move it out of the shop...
