RFQ to manufacture spline and shaft

I also can’t imagine anyone wanting to retain the drum brakes on a Griff. That being said I survived with rear drums on my GT6, at less weight and 1/3 rd of the HP. Are brake proportioned legal on the street? Might be difficult setting a rear disc on such a light car without getting unintended...

RFQ to manufacture spline and shaft

The £900 gbp per each are full race, if you have a V8 Griff full race prepared probably worth it, could save a death wobble at 200KPH, not for the street car occasionally driven in anger. There are some less expensive ones out there @ £400 ea but they may be out of stock by now. I would have to...

Tool My name is…and I’m a tool junkie

The progression gets compounded when it requires a totally different set of skills. Every apprentice had to know how to sharpen a drill, make forms on a brazed tool, basic manual machining techniques. So much collective knowledge that is rendered obsolete in today’s manufacturing. The pace of...

Tool My name is…and I’m a tool junkie

I retired 10 years ago. Just some of the things that are interesting to me, and highlight the performance and the high cost of achieving it in the competitive market place, that we don’t have to concern ourselves with as “ hobbyists “ Regarding Bombardier, you are correct, that is a specially...

John Bertram and Sons Horizontal Mill, Lambton Shores ON, $1500

I like the esthetics of some antique machinery, old Dalton Lathes and such. The larger they are and especially the wide leather belt line driven machines, I would rather look at someone else’s. If you just like old and curious that’s ok, but paying top dollar for a machine that is extremely...

All you need now is thoughts and prayers, it’s a dastardly endeavor at the best of times. Good luck

Metal working - dry / lubricants / coatings / cooling mist

The basics: HSS steel endmills need cooling most, and lubricating to some extent. Think water soluble coolant. Do not use automotive oil! Taps , lubrication, use tapping compound, in aluminum use cutting oil mixed with varsol. Do not use automotive oil! Drills, a thin cutting oil or emulsified...

Tool My name is…and I’m a tool junkie

A few samples of some of the tooling I introduced into the Canadian market. The odd looking necked carbide endmills are a specialty item for Titanium. Clocking in at between $160 to $400 ea. The longish polished insert and cutter body are for routing aluminum at staggering rates . Think about...

    Bearing Housing for Griffin

These pictured are from an early Vixen, dual shocks, not he same as what you are making. The ones you are making and the ones I do from castings are the modified version of the standard ones. The standard ones are reproduced and very inexpensive, but have the same failings as the originals...
