  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area.     Thanks will keep do that. I did see a couple used out of the US for around $800 plus $250 shipping even before getting to border and they were missing pieces. Also multiple drill holes. The one you picked up sounds ideal.

    Tormenting myself again on which vise to buy for my mill. Actually found Canadianhobby metal workers site while searching the milling machine vise thread on here. A neighbour has a machine shop and his foreman recommended this GS Tooling vise. Any input appreciated. Sorry, cant post links yet.

    Thanks, I'm pretty sure I have speeds, feeds and angles wrong. Probably incorrect inserts for job as well. I'm with you on the PPE as I do enjoy my eyesight.

    Sorry I couldn't even guess. The guy was a collector of "Steampunk" stuff. That was his description. Really amazing collection though, and he had restored most if not all of it himself. Think he made a lot of it as well. He has a short video and it looks like 1920's mad scientist film set.

    Wow that would be an interesting piece. Lots of old stuff like that in your area? I was trying to buy an old foot treadle lathe in perfect shape, but ferry to Nanaimo was shut down due to covid at time and it eventually sold.
