    Mystery lathe, for real

I’m sure the OP knows this, but in case… many of the parts are interchangeable between this generation of Bantam and a Chipmaster. Congrats! One of my late mentors had a Bantam bought new just like this one. Many of the jigs and first bits of the Gunston artificial knee joints were machined on it.

    Monarch 10EE

Curious what the ‘nightmare in electrics’ a Rivett 1020 would have? On first glance seems to be remarkably simpler than a 10EE or later generation Hendey Tool n Gage lathes. In fact I turned down a good mechanical condition late model Hendey T&G lathe just five miles away from me due to its...

Walter Rotary Table 12 inch, $200, Ottawa, ON

Hell, yeah, that’s a good deal! West German made. Sure seems to be a lot of nice machines and tooling out of Ottawa recently. I would have guessed 12” from proportions, but just looked at my 12” Walter and it has a different pattern of t-slots. Fwiw.

    Granite surface plate, $100

A lot of good information there, Susquatch. Another little consideration is the professional stone re-lapper, recertification people don’t like to work on smaller stones. From what I’ve been told a 2’x3’ plate is about the smallest. Nor sure I understand why. And speaking of re-lapping...

    Standard Modern 12x30

I know what the SM 9” and 10” Utilathe anatomy looks like and a regrind and scrape of these two lathes would not require turcite under saddle ways. Not sure about a 12” Utilathe. Also not sure if your lathe has a hardened bed? Depth of hardening? Could the OP please post a pic of his lathe...

    Radial drill press, $2300, Chatham-Kent

I swear there must be something in the water in Sweden. How else could one country corner the drill market?
