    CA-ALL New Tariffs

And Rio Tinto (used to be Alcan Aluminum) Kitimat in BC is on the coast, with a deep water port and an LNG export terminal. If we can't sell our aluminum into the US, and China is pissed about tariffs into the US, how about we talk to the Chinese? I'm sure we can figure out a mutually-beneficial...

The hypocrisy and unfairness in schooling

I never let my schooling interfere with my education. (Mark Twain) Grade 10 PE class. I’m 15, 5’10”and weighed maybe 100 lbs. I hated PE. Class is playing basketball. I’m avoiding the ball as much as possible. and nobody’s going to pass me the ball, because that would be stupid. So I’m...

Little Machine Shop Special of the Week

What a brilliant idea. Easy enough to carefully lay out two small dimples on the closed outside jaws at a precise distance. Say 0.200” apart. Then set the vernier at 0.200” less than the desired divider spacing.

    Drilling 1-11/16” hole 14” deep

Why not just use the appropriate morse extension? Turn down the drill shank so there’s chip clearance at the end of the flutes...

    Weiss VM32 CNC Conversion

I have the same $12 proximity sensor on my lathe tach, no problem detecting a magnet at 1200 rpm. Sensor too far from trigger? I tried optical, too fiddly. Didn’t like oil and grit, didn’t like having sunlight come in through the shop window.
