    Good question! There is an order of magnitude difference in the complexity for one thing. The cut knurler took about 6 hours to make but the scissors type took about three days. It is pretty though. With a cut knurler and a +/- 30 degree adjustable head, you only need one straight wheel to cut...

    Probably this.... I changed the phone settings to save images as .jpg. instead of HEIF then I noticed this error about HDR content.

    I agree with PeterT. The narrow shank is needed to achieve the correct clearances. But also the length of the neck is important. The Aliexpress cutter shown above has a short neck which means the depth of the upper corner of the dovetail slot is limited, and would be quite close to the top...

    The knurl wheels are made by Form-Rol, the ones in the photos are 40TPI which is a very fine pitch. No sharpening required! Thanks for the nice comments folks!

    Thats a screenshot showing the error. Theres nothing different between these images - in the sense that they are all from an iPhone and processed (as usual) via the Apple Preview app, then exported from HEIF format to PNG or JPEG.
