New to me ZX45 milling machine

Well a bit of an up date and more of a head scratcher. I was playing around removing shims and taking measurements when I had the idea to flip the scale around end for end. In theory it should then read that it the middle is bowing out since before it was bowing in. Well it doesn't. It just...

New to me ZX45 milling machine

The table is straight the scale is curved. The reason it is currently shimmed out .020" at the one end is I was trying to get the ends to be the same reading before I payed closer attention to the dial indicator as it was crossing the middle and that is when I realized it had a bow. I will take...

New to me ZX45 milling machine

Here is a pic of how it is mounted. The read head is not yet mounted since I am still trying to fin tune getting the scale into the right position. The direction that it is slightly bowing in is in and out not up and down. In other words I would need to put a shim in the middle between the table...

Shop Now THIS is a Full Shop!

It really made me think that if something unexpectedly happened to me that my wife and kid wouldn't know what everything was or what it was worth. It would be bad enough for them to have to deal with emptying out the shop I would at least want them to get what things are worth and not loose out...

    measuring a tapered stub

My suggestion would be to make it on a manual lathe and use the old one to set the compound with a dial indicator you don't even need to know what the actual angle is. Just have to find a creative way of holding the original piece straight in the lathe. Having said that your ways are probably...

    Electric heater question

I have 4 of the thick rubber mats from costco and some carpet samples in the shop as well as a couple anti fatigue mats. All placed in the in front of machines and work bench. It was more for my back than anything but I suppose it helps to insulate as well.

Busy Bee Tools selling Accusize products

I would love to say that I support small businesses even if it cost more but sadly price usually wins out and the biggest thing that can drive up an overall price is shipping. I can't imagine it is easy for small companies to be able to do free shipping without loosing money but it definitely...
