    expired propane bottle ?

I dropped off some used motor oil awhile ago - and now that you mention it, yes there probably was one or more there. When I was there, there (behind a Fire Dept. building), there was no one to be seen and I doubt any one would have a problem with some one "re-purposing" a propane bottle.

    expired propane bottle ?

Craig had already cut one in half, I got the top half he didn't use. I've done it before though - un-screwed the valve on top (empty it first), washed / rinsed it out with soapy water then cut with angle grinder / zip disc.

    Checking out the Happy Vise

They were buying some of their large pumps (about the size of a VW beetle) from China, completely stripping them down before ever being used. They re-did all...

Triple spider idea to remove runout?

I don't use a triple spider. I do have a spider in the outboard end of my spindle bore - 4 X 1/4 - 20 SHCScrews w/ brass tips. On the chuck end I use a 4 jaw with a piece of 1/4" soft copper bent around the work piece, resulting in very narrow contact at the chuck end as well. If you "sneak up"...
