  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Worth picking up a mill/drill?

I am making slow progress being summer time. I managed to get over to Beach Rd steel and picked up some cheap 20 guage sheet. I want to make side panels for the stand and make a chip tray. I cut to size on my foot shear and used a zip blade to cut the corners. This hand bender worked well to...

    2002 VW Golf refurb

The “Hot Hatch” I love the VW commercial from years ago where the young man buys the old lady’s car thinking it was gently used, cuts to the lady rallying the car. That’s my mom, a driving standard turbo VW golf at 86 years of age.

    R8 Milling Spindle

I bought this R8 milling spindle at Busy Bee intending to make a milling head one day. Not going to happen. It’s new and still has the protective coating on it. The spindle body diameter is 70mm and length 121mm of the body. Let me know if you need any measurements. I will ship on your dime...

    WTB Felt

I tried the cheap stuff, then real felt, the real stuff deposited a lovely film on my bed ways and wicks nicely.

    WTB Felt

Try and get real felt, not synthetic felt. Last felt I bought at Lee Valley for way wippers.

Hi @Ian Moss definitely a rare collet if it’s a B-3. Thanks anyway.

WTB: Milling machine X table wheel

I am facing the same problem x3. The original plastic handles on my mill/drill aren’t up to much. I was thinking of buying the Aliexpress ones and milling the 3 recessed areas. Standard Bridgeport clone are different handles with more recessed areas.

    What is more valuable?

I would definitely go with health. The size of your shop does not dictate the incredible things you can make.

    Stick welder issues

Thanks, I do that with other things like outdoor cushions. It just seems like a never ending battle.

    Stick welder issues

@BaitMaster I think you are right, it’s not happy. I am going to replace the grounding clamp too.

    Stick welder issues

It’s free now but kind of sputtering. I will have to dive into it more tomorrow.

    Stick welder issues

A mouse made it’s home in my stick welder. I haven’t used it in a couple years. Removed the nest. I noticed the Amp dial getting more difficult to turn the last few times I have used it and now it’s locked tight. I am hoping just by removing the guide blocks on the outside it will free up.

    Worth picking up a mill/drill?

Thanks! With the summer weather it’s harder to find the time. It is nicer to weld with the doors open for the fumes and use the torch outside so you don’t burn your shop down.

    Spring is Here!

Lyme is awful, I tested positive and it and affected all my joints. The doctor gave me heavy antibiotics. I am glad they are working on a vaccine. I seem to be hyper affected by bites now, bulls eye even for a minimal short duration bite, I have had them take over a year to heal.
