  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

    Four little oilers

Good get there overall. I'm thinking that the brass one is a vintage mister / atomizer though, as opposed to something designed for oiling. Lee Valley still sells a very similar unit...

Mini 7" Horizontal Shaper Advice Needed

Whereabouts in this grand vast land of ours are you located ? If you are in SW Ontario then just bide your time and one will swim along soon. Even better if you are capable of heading over the border at Buffalo or Detroit to poach one and bring it home. The small shapers cost more...

    Electric panel questions.

The nice thing about the Honeywell wifi thermostats is you pay for the product, you download the app, and it works great thereafter at an acceptable one-time price point. The big value proposition is that there is no ongoing residual charge to pay. We have one at our vacation property and we...

I think it was a solar storm that likely messed up your Starlink Darren. Here's a link to the story: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/solar-storm-knocks-40-spacex-satellites-out-of-orbit-180979566/

    Rifle Barrel Fluting

Scotch is just OK to me...it's my wife's choice of whisky, but I always preferred dark rums after getting exposed to those on trips to the Caribbean. Of the Scotch I've had, I like the nicer Abelour the best of all. The rest I generally find harsh or crazy peaty. Bourbon is now my new fave...

    Rifle Barrel Fluting

OK, you've raised a trout here . I've become a convert over to bourbon lately. Not intending to hi-jack your thread or anything, but what's your tipple of choice if you don't me asking ? I'm still trying to figure it out. In fact I am still data-testing right now as I type this ! Here's a...

Just able to revisit the forum, missed it immensely

We all have our own "bedside manner" right ? It is worth noting the criticism though and looking inward at the chances we each have in our own little "less important worlds" to perhaps take the time to recognize that basic civility and basic exhibiting of compassion and respect for someone...

    Zip ties

I have cheaper ones on hand for when "good" will suffice over "best". But when I need the "best" this is what I reach for: Thomas & Betts Cable Tie - Ultraviolet Resistant Black Nylon with Stainless Steel Locking Tab They go by the brand name Ty-Rap, and have long been an industrial staple...

    Hello from SW Ontario

Not sure Len - you've been there since I was last in there a couple of years pre-COVID. Good you know about them though. Maybe check out that website more ? I did join UPAC and got their emails and magazines for a few years while my son was full-on into air cadets and aviation, etc. and we...

    Hello from SW Ontario

hi Len, We were looking at a used Challenger (the ultralight...not the business jet). A 2 seater, powered by a prop-pusher Rotax snowmobile engine behind the cabin. They are quite popular, and you can put floats and/or skiis on them too. Not much to them at all, but the glide ratio is such...

    Hello from SW Ontario

thanks John - yes, we're not too far apart - I'm likely 35 mins. or so NE of you up and diagonally across the 401. I've enjoyed following your posts so far and seeing the pics of you shop, etc. I almost bought a home-built airplane based out of the small airfield near Bright awhile back. My...
