If you buy a low buck Chinese vfd it is a good idea to buy a unit rated about 750 watts higher than the motor it will power. I used one on a milling machine and have another on my drill press and followed this strategy. Both units have been very reliable and are still in use years later.

I think the DTE oil may be overkill for my lathe but it is what is recommended in the user manual. Since a 5 gallon pail of ISO 68 hydraulic oil is $90 these days at PA I'm ok with spending an extra $40 for the peace of mind of knowing this oil will protect the machine fully. I change the oil...
